American video game distributor Limited Run Games says it is investigating reports of defects affecting the Collectors' Edition of Sonic x Shadow Generations after fans began sharing photos and complaints online.

Why it matters: The acknowledgement follows the start of shipments for the long delayed Collectors' Edition, which was sold at a premium price of $250 USD and arrived more than a year after the game's launch.

Zoom in: Fans who recently received the product have reported damaged or defective statues.

What they're saying: Limited Run acknowledged the issue in a statement obtained by Tails' Channel News, saying reports are being treated with urgency and that the company is committed to fixing the problem.

  • "We are awaiting a large shipment of further Collector's Editions, due to arrive on Monday the 29th of December, which will allow us to ascertain the severity of the problem and, in turn, chart a path forward," they said.
