A new Shadow the Hedgehog-themed wireless controller for the Nintendo Switch was launched today by peripheral company PDP, in association with SEGA.

Why it matters: The new controller follows the release of Sonic x Shadow Generations and the scheduled wintertime debut of Paramount's third Sonic film.

  • It's also the latest in PDP's collectable controller series, which has included versions for Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles.

The details: The controller features a multi-layered, see-through design, showcasing the Space Colony ARK scene and a 3D Shadow figurine embedded in the hand grip, with customizable LED lighting effects.

  • Compatible with Switch, Switch Lite, and Switch OLED systems, it offers wireless play up to 30 feet (about 9.14 metres), and up to 30 hours of battery life per charge.
