# Sonic and Fortnite crossover comic surfaces at New York City event

SEGA handed out a Sonic and *Fortnite* crossover one-shot comic at a [Chaos Hunt activation](https://xcancel.com/sonic%5Fhedgehog/status/2088294820397682970?ref=news.tailschannel.com) in New York, NY on Saturday. It gave fans their first look at Sonic the Hedgehog, Shadow the Hedgehog, and Knuckles the Echidna as *Fortnite* skins.

The one-shot comic went out to eventgoers at The High Line park in Manhattan, a SEGA official confirmed to *Tails' Channel*. It [credited](https://bsky.app/profile/idwsonicnews.bsky.social/post/3mt4xexzgbs2k?ref=news.tailschannel.com) Evan Stanley, Miles Arq, Min Ho Kim, and Tyler McGrath.

The three characters wore what appeared to be "mechanical parts" from Doctor Eggman's robots that, according to the comic's story, were rebuilt by Miles "Tails" Prower. Some fans read it as an attempt to justify their proportions into *Fortnite*.

The designs also matched one of the oddities flagged in Friday's [alleged key art](https://xcancel.com/HYPEX/status/2088641850596896796?ref=news.tailschannel.com) for *Fortnite*'s upcoming "Override" seasonal event.

*The Sonic Stadium* first called the art an ["AI fake"](https://xcancel.com/sonicstadium/status/2088484038407242155?ref=news.tailschannel.com#m) after spotting oddities like an [eyeless Pac-Man](https://x.com/pacapproved/status/2088431916366401699?ref=news.tailschannel.com), then [retracted the claim](https://xcancel.com/sonicstadium/status/2088500444540674181?ref=news.tailschannel.com#m) after fans [pushed back](https://bsky.app/profile/mysticmelody2001.bsky.social/post/3mt4qgcnv5c26?ref=news.tailschannel.com). *Tails' Channel* editors spotted several of the same inconsistences and alleged similarities to [existing assets](https://xcancel.com/Macko%5FMT/status/2088443840290066720?ref=news.tailschannel.com), but stopped short of calling the leak inauthentic on that basis, given the developer's [on-the-record use](https://www.ign.com/articles/fortnite-maker-confirms-how-it-uses-generative-ai-to-help-create-concept-art-and-designs-for-new-skins?ref=news.tailschannel.com) of generative AI.

SEGA did not say if the one-shot will be distributed outside of Chaos Hunt. Epic Games did not comment on the comic or the alleged key art.
