Sonic at the Box Office - Week 3: Third film crosses $187 million in the U.S., nearing franchise record

Paramount's Sonic the Hedgehog 3 has crossed $336 million globally, surpassing the first Sonic movie's total ($319 million) in just over two weeks.

Why it matters: After pushing the franchise past $1 billion in total earnings, Sonic 3 is on track to beat the domestic box office of its 2022 predecessor of $190 million, with its U.S. total now at $187 million.

By the numbers: Despite its strong performance, Sonic 3 finished second at the U.S. box office this weekend, trailing behind Mufasa: The Lion King.
