Paramount's *Sonic the Hedgehog 3* has hit $204 million at the domestic box office, making it the highest-grossing Sonic movie in the United States.

- Globally, the film has reached $385 million and is on track to surpass *Sonic 2*'s $405 million total.

**Why it matters:** The third *Sonic* film is now only the second video game adaptation to cross the $200 million mark in the U.S. market, following *The Super Mario Bros. Movie*. 

**By the numbers:** *Den of Thieves 2* made its opening debut with $15.5 million, while *Mufasa* took second with $13.2 million, bringing its total to $188.7 million.

- *Sonic 3* meanwhile grossed $11 million this weekend, dropping to third place.
