SEGA late Friday promoted a wave of new content for Sonic Racing CrossWorlds and the reveal of a new licenced indie game, Sonic Pico Park, at this year's Summer Game Fest in Los Angeles, CA.
It's news that landed amid anticipation from Sonic fans as the franchise's 35th anniversary approaches later this June.
TMNT and Avatar Pack coming to CrossWorlds later this year
The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles pack will arrive in July 2026 with all four Turtles (that being Leonardo, Donatello, Raphael, and Michelangelo) playable with new courses and music.

The Avatar Legends pack will follow in October 2026 to complete the game's first Season Pass, with Aang and Katara alongside new vehicles, courses, music, and emotes.

Evangelion and Godzilla in the second year of CrossWorlds DLC line-up
Sonic fans will now get the chance to race as Rei Ayanami and Asuka Langley Sohryu in the Neon Genesis Evangelion downloadable content package. That, and Godzilla, were two of the six upcoming packs slated for the game's second wave of post-launch content for 2027.

It's a positive development after uncertainty about the game's long-term prospects, spurred by the financial reports from SEGA's parent company that flagged missed internal sales targets.
The crossovers didn't receive a specific release date yet, but SEGA said in a statement forwarded to Tails' Channel that both packs will feature "intense courses, larger-than-life characters, and more."

Meanwhile, the Godzilla pack is an extension of an active cross-promotional relationship between SEGA and Toho's top franchise. Sonic Rumble launched a Godzilla crossover event in late December 2025, and IDW Publishing's Sonic comic book series will cross over with Godzilla in a multi-part mini-series, with the first issue out 15 July.
Sonic Pico Park announced
SEGA also announced a new cooperative action-puzzle game, developed by independent studio Tecopark.

Sonic Pico Park will take the cooperative puzzle structure of the 2016 indie game Pico Park and rebuild it around Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and Amy, with Sonic-like mechanics worked into the stages.
The game's set for a 2026 release, with a wishlist due to open on Steam.
No word about a rumoured Frontiers "Definitive Edition"
The announcements arrived against a backdrop of speculation about the rumoured "Definitive Edition" of Sonic Frontiers, among other things.
Retail listings, a ratings board submission, and magazine reports all fed the expectation of a potential announcement. Though SEGA has said nothing on the matter, the pattern tracks with how past Sonic titles have surfaced before an official acknowledgement.

Online discussion in recent weeks had been split between Summer Game Fest and a potential third-party video presentation as the more likely venue for a major Sonic announcement. With today's news now out, an in-house Sonic Central (as alleged by one outlet of questionable origin) looks increasingly improbable.
